Sayyidunā Abdullâh Ibn Umar: Keep it [the ‘Imâmah] as a Friend

Imâm Ahmad Rida al-Qadri rađiyAllāhu ánhu says,

The grandson of Sayyidunā Umar Farūq rađiyAllāhu ánhu, Sayyidunā Sālim rađiyAllāhu ánhu said, 'I came to my father Sayyidunā Abdullâh ibn Umar rađiyAllāhu ánhu and he rađiyAllāhu ánhu was tying the blessed Imaamah. When he rađiyAllāhu ánhu finished tying it, he looked at me and asked, 'Do you keep the ‘Imâmah as a friend?' I replied, 'Why not!' Sayyidunā Abdullâh ibn Umar rađiyAllāhu ánhu said, 'Keep it as a friend and you will gain respect and when Satan sees you, he will turn his back. I heard the Messenger of Allâh şallAllāhu álayhi wa sallam say, 'Praying one salāh with an ‘Imâmah is equivalent to praying twenty-five without an ‘Imâmah and one Jumu'ah with an Imaamah is equivalent to seventy without an Imâmah.' Ibn Umar rađiyAllāhu ánhu then said, 'Oh son! Wear the ‘Imâmah because the angels tie the ‘Imâmah on Friday and send peace until sunset upon those who wear an ‘Imâmah.'[1]
