Two graves

Sayyidunā Ibn Abbâs rađiyAllāhu ánhu stated that once the King of Makkah, the Lord of Madīnah, the Beloved Messenger of Allâh şallAllāhu álayhi wa sallam walked past two graves in which the deceased were in painful punishment. The Beloved Messenger of Allâh şallAllāhu álayhi wa sallam said that they are being punished only because of minor sins. One was being punished due to the fact he did not try to keep his clothes and body away from drops of urine and the other was in torture due to the fact that he used to gossip about people. The Beloved Messenger of Allâh şallAllāhu álayhi wa sallam got a hold of a fresh branch, split it into two pieces and put one on each grave. The Beloved Messenger of Allâh şallAllāhu álayhi wa sallam then said, These two people shall not be punished for as long as these two branches stay fresh.
